6 Fall Cocktails You Need To Try

November 17, 2020

Two Cocktails with Gold Banded Glasses - Date Ideas CanadaWith most of the leaves already off the trees, it may seem like fall has already passed. The weather is crisper, the days are shorter, and puffer jackets and Blundstones have come out of hibernation. But fall is still officially here for a few more weeks.

As everyone slowly shifts to being indoors again, we have taken on the ‘arduous’ task of rummaging around the internet to find and test some top-notch autumn cocktails. It’s hard work but somebody has to do it!

Here are 6 fall cocktails that taste like all things autumn. Try them out before we get into the swing of the Christmas holiday season.

Apple Butter Old Fashioned

Bump up your Bourbon game for fall! Impress your Farmers’ Market friends with this adult fruit juice. Tastes just like apple pie! This (red) delicious cocktail has autumn written all over it. We whipped up a batch after a Sunday afternoon trail walk. They were perfect!

Smoked Maple Old Fashioned

Wowzers! The smoky maple flavour of this little warmer conjures up a crisp autumn evening of sipping ’round a campfire. Quick and easy to put together, it’s like fall in a double rocks glass. I promise you’ll be drinking these well into winter.

Haunted Orchard Cocktail

This one’s almost too pretty to drink. Try this lovely blend of hard cider and tequila, served in a beautiful Nick & Nora glass with a cinnamon swizzle and VOILÀ…you are doing autumn in style! And really, you can change the name of this cocktail to Elf Juice or Santa’s Swizzler and carry this one right through to the end of December. Highly recommended as a reward for all the Christmas lights you hung up on the weekend. 😉

Smashing Pumpkin Cocktail

I think even Billy Corgan would agree that this is the best Smashing Pumpkins hit in a while! I love the mix of fall flavours in this cocktail and would recommend it as a starter to a lovely fall weekend. The surprise in this one is the butterscotch. When mixed with the pumpkin….divine!

Boozy Pumpkin White Hot Chocolate

Now for something to warm you after that afternoon hike or somewhat pointless leaf-raking exercise. This Pumpkin White Hot Chocolate drink with a hint of Kahlua or Bourbon is just the ticket to ease you into the colder weather. Light that fire, grab some board games and settle in to a couple or 3 of these. I know I’m not supposed to have favourites but…just sayin’…

Fireball Whisky Cocktails

It’s autumn in a tall glass! You can combine hard cider or apple juice with Fireball Cinnamon Whisky to create a lovely fall tonic. Tastes like cinnamon hearts or Red Hots. So good, and you can make a whole batch. Works well with chili, wings and football!
