Making for a perfect getaway, Fogo Island Inn was designed by Newfoundland-born, Norway-based architect, Todd Saunders. Its sharp angles and rough contours feel at home amidst Fogo Island’s jagged and uneven landscape.

At 43,000 square feet, the Inn is perched on stilts and hugs the North Atlantic coastline. From this vantage point, all 29 rooms boast impressive floor-to-ceiling views of sea and sky.

Dining & Cocktails

The Dining Room features a dramatic vaulted ceiling. Not only does it look out over the ocean, you will also glimpse views of the community of Barr’d Islands in the distance. Depending on the season, guests can watch icebergs bobbing in the waves or whales breaching offshore.

And, by the way, the food is fantastic. Changing daily, the dining menu reflects the region. Accordingly, ingredients that most often find their way onto guests’ plates are those from right here: scallops with parsnips and rhubarb jelly, salt cod and shaved turnip, roasted cabbage and bakeapples.

A lively space for gathering and unwinding, the Inn’s Bar and Lounge offers a laid-back atmosphere. Start your day with a cappuccino or wrap it up with a cocktail in this inviting room.

Other Amenities

The fourth-floor rooftop deck houses the Inn’s wood-fired saunas and two outdoor hot tubs overlooking the ocean.

The Library features an extensive collection of fiction and non-fiction works about the history and culture of Newfoundland and Canada.

Adding to the unique amenities, Fogo Island Inn features a contemporary “white cube” art gallery. The gallery showcases the works of selected artists who have completed residencies on Fogo Island.

The 37-seat Fogo Island Cinema is a partnership with the National Film Board of Canada and also doubles as a lecture theatre.
