Paint Party

We love this fantastic idea! A paint party is a social outing that you can participate in with your date, with a group of friends or with family. You’ll be creating a painting from start to finish and there are sometimes cocktails and appetizers involved as well. How can this possibly go wrong?

Many companies will provide all of the supplies you need to create your masterpiece, so all you have to do is attend and join in the fun. The event is usually lead by an instructor who guides and helps you throughout the session. Some people may have a bit more of a knack for the actual painting than others, but you do not have to have any expertise whatsoever to enjoy this fun date idea.

We love what You & I Paint is doing with their Sip & Paint experience. They have teamed up with wineries in Southern Ontario to offer upscale and unique events either in their winery partners’ stunning venues, or they can host in the comfort of your own home. Needless to say, wine is the co-star here. You & I Paint also hosts virtual events in lieu of the in-person experience.

Relax and Reconnect

Life can be quite hectic and it’s not always easy to spend quality alone time with your partner. Work pulls you one way, the kids (if you’ve got any) pull you the other, you’re cooking, cleaning, you have to walk the dog – we all know what it’s like.

The PATH to discovery

The PATH in Toronto connects the city above to over 1200 retail stores below. A Guinness World Record for the largest underground retail centre, it stretches over 30 km. The vastness of the PATH connects most office buildings downtown with retail shops and multiple food courts, all underground and away from the chilly winter weather. Not all shops are open on weekends, so plan your trip for a weekday. Grab your significant other and make sure to wear comfortable shoes. The PATH is lined with quaint restaurants, fashion stores and multiple connections to the Subway. Exploring The PATH is definitely a fun activity that may not be top of mind but that does not disappoint.

Karaoke

When singing in the shower (in tune) is just not enough for you or your partner, it might be time for you to arrange a Karaoke date night. Preparing beforehand might be a good idea. Make it a romantic duet so you can sing to each other and help one another along if one of you has stage fright. Even then, if you don’t think you’re brave enough to get up and belt it out in front of a crowd, line up some support. Invite another couple (or more) to join you for a fun night out.

How to prepare:

1. Know the lyrics or pick a song that you can at least partly sing. Most of the Karaoke Bars publish the songs they have available on their websites. Check those out before you go.

2. Invite some friends to come along for support.

3. Book a table, booth or soundproof room, depending on what is on offer at the venue. Some rooms can fit up to 30 people if you have that many friends tagging along.

4. Have a shot of your favourite libation. This may just calm your nerves to get you going and lube up your vocal cords.

5. Get on stage and sing it like you mean it!

Theme Parks

Why not throw caution to the wind and have a date at one of the beautiful theme parks dotted all around Canada. Get the adrenalin pumping on some of the wild rides, explore the amazing sights and just reconnect with your inner child.

Ice Skating

You don’t have to spend your winter evenings at home. Grab your gloves, scarf and any other winter woolies you need, and head out to an outdoor ice rink. Soak in the festive atmosphere while skating with your partner, drinking hot cocoa to keep warm and grabbing some delicious street food.
